Going Herbert West on this blog

I´ll going Reanimator on the blog post now all the pout-pourri of stuff I´ve been painting since my last (January) post. A pretty eclectic bunch of miniatures now that I look at them all in one place.

Let the Herbert Westing commence:

I painted a Reaper Bones Gargoyle to test out the stuff in anticipation of getting my Bones pile of fun

Then I painted up some more Perry Islamic Warriors to complement my ongoing Seljuk project (which finally found some support in SAGA, via the Steppes People board):

Then, to shift gears, I went for some of the (excellent Teutonic perfection) Bruegelburg miniatures (http://www.lead-adventure.com/index.php?cPath=22). A bit dark on this picture, but it´s the only one I got.

Followed by another Perry Muslim:

And then again a William Tell-like figure from Bruegelburg miniatures:

And from this I went into my waiting commissions.

And some 10mm ACW (GHQ, incredibly detailed). Only have some non atmospheric WIP shots of those.

This brings me up to about March 2013. Still some pictures to upload, but latest work done were some Essex 15mm Aztecs (on commission):

I´ll upload the remainder and do a 2nd getting-the-blog-up-to-date post. Expect some Samurai (getting into Ronin from Osprey right now), more Bruegelburgs (which are a heap of fun to paint) and more one-offs. Currently waiting on the commission table are:

• 20mm SCW (Italians) & Asaltos.
• 10mm ACW (Confederates) &
• 15mm Medieval Portuguese FoG army.

Well this didn´t turn out as expected

I started 2013 wanting to post regularly to a blog (as a means of self-motivation for painting slumps which still happen way too often).

Things started more or less ok and then, work happened. Lots and lots of work.

And in a wink of an eye I don´t post one single solitary pic during the better part of 2013.

This doesn´t mean I didn´t paint anything (fortunately), but it´s proof of a complete lack of discipline with the blog.

I´ll fix it in one fell swoop and do one massive post where I´ll try to sum up all the different things I painted in 2013 up until now.

Let´s see now if I can maintain some discipline and do some regular updates.

A new look for some old halftracks

I recently dumped my FoW halftracks in some soap and water and cleaned them up ready to paint them up as a whole collection. They were sorely mismatched, having been acquired over the past decade or so.

I wanted them to be flexible in their gaming use, good for any front or passenger, so I kept them in a no frills dunkgelb base.

Yesterday I finished one up and kept the recipe for all the others. Still not 100% happy with it - I hate that mossy green camo net and will have to to something about it.

Here he is - the first of about 16 to do:

Finished last night, some air support for my Panzergrenadiers. A Hs129B3 with the massive 75mm canon. A truly unique (meaning weird) flying machine. Figure is 1:144 by Battlefront.

Finished a couple of comission works and have some in the queue, but I took a brief interval to paint up some stuff for me. No more text, all pics from here down:

I also finished some Khurasan Tibetans but have no photos of that. Will wait for the customer to take some proper photos so I can have a memento :)

Upcoming post will mainly focus on 15mm Panzergrenadiers (Lehr) done for me and 20mm SCW/10mm ACW/15mm Romans on comission.

On the workbench now

My workbench has been brim full of commission work but I did manage to squeeze in a couple of personal projects.

First up, a Gripping Beast Monk (limited edition miniature) I received from my good friend and fellow Suricata Club member José Martins (Adamastorus). A joy to slap some paint on and I did manage to try out a couple of things in unfamiliar territory (OSL on the hand and some green tinting on the eye lids - nice and subdued as to not make him look like e cheap whore). On the whole I´m happy with him. May come around to make the base look more alien though (perhaps with some reddish Martian tint). I dub him "Ping the Pittiless" - totally unrelated to Ming the Merciless :)
